Indonesia is divided into 34 Provinces one of which is Bali, this represents the highest level of government in Bali reporting to the President. Bali is then further divided into 8 Regencies and 1 City. Further again there is minor divisions into Districts and then Villages.
Level 1 - Provinces (provinsi, daerah istimewa)
Level 3 - Districts (kecamatan, distrik, kapanewon, or kemantren)
Level 4 - Rural or urban villages (desa or kelurahan) |

KUTA - The home of fantastic surf and beaches, Kuta is southern Bali’s most well-known holiday destination. Accommodation options range from backpacker to absolute luxury and everything in between.
The areas appeal and drawback to some is the busyness of the area. Kuta is full of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, salons, shopping centres, market stalls and more. At every turn you will find something new though at night it is the party centre of Bali. |

TUBAN - South of Kuta surrounding the airport enjoys a more relaxed and laid-back pace compared to nearby Kuta. This area is popular for surfers who enjoy the reef break you can view when flying in and out of Bali.
South of the airport the beach is also a great place to relax and view the planes flying in and out. Tuban also is the beginning of the mangroves which you can view starting just next to the main roundabout when leaving the airport to Jalan Sunset. |

LEGIAN - Just North of Kuta is Legian offering a more family friendly version of Kuta. This area offers a great range of low/middle to high class accommodation, bars, restaurants, nightlife, shopping options, salons and more but leaves behind the wild nightlife partying until the morning hours.
The beach here is great for surfing and perhaps the best part about Legian is that you have access to either the busy Kuta or High end Seminyak. |

SEMINYAK - Seminyak has over the years established itself as one of the higher end areas of Bali. With a great selection of mid to high class accommodation, restaurants, salons, boutiques, bars and some nightclubs.
Seminyak officially starts from double six beach where you begin to have beach bars along the sand and also a number of high end beach clubs. These can be the perfect place to relax after a day looking at the boutiques. |

CANGGU - Canggu is located after Seminyak and has recently developed greatly with tourism. This has made the once sleepy area now one of the busiest areas ion Bali attracting a young hipsters and surfer crowd.
A mixture of rice fields, villas, resorts and beach clubs, restaurants and nightlife blend in Canggu. This is ever increasing with the area also becoming known as a location for many online workers to stay as well as social media influencers to stay. |

SANUR - Sanur has a long tourism history with the first ever luxury hotel being built here. Sanur has developed greatly over the years however still managed to maintain its small village feeling much quieter than Kuta to Seminyak.
The main street is a fusion of local and tourist bars, restaurants, shops, and more. Never too busy Sanur is an ideal location to rent a bicycle and ride along the footpaths or relax on the beach. If you want to party all is closed at 12 midnight. |

JIMBARAN - Famous for its seafood restaurants that line Jimbaran beach this is an ideal place to watch a sunset while enjoying some seafood. Jimbaran has a mix of low, middle and high-class accommodations.
South from the airport and the main tourist stretch, Jimbaran Bay is an ideal place to relax with a relaxed pace. Here there are many large resorts along the beach so often holidaymakers spend much of their time in the resort or require a driver. |

NUSA DUA - South of Bali’s capital is Nusa Dua, peppered with many high-end luxury resorts and hotels. A focus on relaxed living rather than a ‘party’ atmosphere.
The area is surrounded by some of the best beaches in Bali however you will need a driver to enjoy the surrounding area. One of the most popular ways to spend the day is lazing on the pristine beaches or taking a refreshing dip in the warm waters off the peninsular. There is also a big focus on full catered in resort style holidays. |

BUKIT PENINSULA (Ulawatu, Pecatu, Ungasan) - Situated in South West of Bali just after Nusa Dua this area began it’s popularity like much of Bali through surfing with some amazing surf beaches. In recent years many luxury resorts and beach clubs have been built throughout the area taking advantage of the clifftop views.
When staying in this area a car, motorbike, or driver is needed to travel between locations however we highly recommend a day trip here to go beach hopping. |

DENPASAR - Denpasar is the bustling main city of Bali a combination of government offices, every shop you could ever imagine, markets, temples, museums, countless places to eat from restaurants to roadside food stalls and so much more.
This area is rarely visited by tourists and can be a little overwhelming for those not used to the sometimes chaotic feel of such a place. If you have the time and are feeling adventurous then it is worth a visit to see everyday Bali life. |

UBUD - Situated in central Bali, the town of Ubud is unique from all other areas. World renowned as a spiritual hub this area attracts those who love an alternative lifestyle. Here you will find an abundance of art and crafts, yoga retreats, vegetarian restaurants, spiritual healers and more.
Ubud also has many temples & the famous monkey forest. If you’re a spiritualist or not Ubud is well worth a visit just for a day or you may fall in love and stay for longer. |

BEDUGAL - Bedugal covers a large area of the central highlands of Bali an area well known for its natural beauty. The area is primarily visited by tourist on day trips to see the various waterfalls, rice terraces, botanical gardens and the crater lakes of the now extinct volcano.
Many tours are also run within the area including ATV, mountain biking, trekking and more. The area can be a beautiful retreat from some of the busier areas of Bali. |

KINTAMANI - Kintamani area includes 7 local villages which surround the Batur caldera offering amazing views of the active volcano Mount Batur and lake Batur.
The major attraction of the area of course the volcano and lake as well as Pura Ulun Danau Batur, Tegalalang Rice Terraces, trekking, cycling, amazing nature and waterfalls. There is also accommodation in the area ranging from homestays to private villas though most people opt for tours through the area. |

CANDIDASA - Candidasa is known to be a quiet area of Bali where relaxation is the main thing to do. There are many accommodations within the area though you will want to stay close to the beach as the main road through the area is very busy.
There are some basic beaches but the main attractions of the area are surrounding not within the area itself. These include Tenganan Village, snorkeling, diving, as well as a range of other natural areas. |

PADANG BAI - Padang Bai is mostly known as a transit point for those going to areas of Lombok or the Gili Islands. The area however has much beauty to be enjoyed and has beautiful white sand beaches like Blue Lagoon and Bias Tugal, great snorkelling and diving options, beautiful temples and other natural scenic areas close by.
The area contains several home-stays and mid-level accommodations as well as a small number of warungs and restaurants. |

AMED - Located on the North Eastern tip of Bali Amed is about a 3 hour drive from Kuta. A seaside village originally for salt production and fishing this coastal area has become popular for tourists while maintaining its traditional village lifestyle.
The area has many low to mid-level accommodations along the beach as well as numerous warungs and dive centers. The main attraction of the area is snorkeling, diving, and the natural beauty of quiet peaceful village life. |

LOVINA - The area of Lovina is a 10 kilometre stretch of coastline located in West Singaraja comprising of 7 villages. The area has numerous accommodation from budget home-stays to luxury villas and many restaurants, bars and warungs.
The area has volcanic black sand beaches and main attractions to the area include diving, snorkeling, fishing, and dolphin watching. The prices for food and accommodation in the area are very good compared to south Bali. |

WEST BALI NATIONAL PARK - Taman Nasional Bali Barat is the most north-westerly point of Bali and includes Menjangan Island, Prapat Agung Peninsula, areas of Gilimanuk, Cekik, and Banyuwedang. The area contains over 160 bird species, deer, wild bore, leopard cats and was home to a Bali Tiger species prior to extinction.
Accommodation is available within the national park and on Menjangan Island and this is a must for nature lovers, and those interested in marine life. |

NUSA LEMBONGAN - Just a 45 minute boat ride from Serangan Harbour or Sanur Beach lies 3 amazing islands slowly becoming popular with tourists in Bali. Nusa Lembongan has been the first Island to be developed and now has many villas, home-stays, hotels, restaurants and activities set up for tourism.
The island is very quiet with amazing beaches and amazing snorkeling spots filled with tropical fish and reefs. This is an amazing place to escape for a quiet few days. |

NUSA CENINGAN - Nusa Ceningan is the smallest of the three islands and connected to Nusa Lembongan by a small bridge allowing for a motorbike or walking. This Island has been less developed than Nusa Lembongan but that is certainly changing quickly.
Recent years have seen many new accommodations and restaurants be built on the island. The peace and quiet is still amazing though and there are some beautiful hidden beaches over the island. |

NUSA PENIDA - Nusa Penida is the largest of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. In this beautiful Island you will still find the original Balinese culture and be able to enjoy the Island pace of life.
Nusa Penida is has amazing coastline, beautiful beaches, stunning cliffs, is the best choice to see Manta Rays and offers great fishing. In recent years this islands popularity is steadily increasing and will continue to get busier. |

LOMBOK - Although not part of Bali we mention Lombok as this is slowly becoming a travel destination for those also visiting Bali. A tropical wonderland just east of Bali where breathtaking beaches, cascading waterfalls and impressive volcano of Mount Rinjani are just a few of the attractions to see.
This is set to be an up and coming travel destination in the next few years and has already been developing toward this. |

GILI ISLANDS - Not part of Bali but part of Lombok the Gili Islands. Here you can escape the demands of modern life, take a breath of fresh air, and forget the meaning of time. A relaxing holiday destination of natural beauty, all motorized transport is banned on the Gili Islands allowing you to explore the islands at your own leisure, in peace and safety. With 3 main tourist islands and several other surrounding islands this may be a nice way to spend a part of your holiday.
